Research in Science Experience
Research in Science Experience (RISE) is a program for rising sophomores at ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø who are interested in careers in science or medicine.
RISE is designed and intended for students from groups historically excluded from the sciences, including minoritized, low-wealth, first-generation college-going, and new-majority students. Any ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø first-year student may apply.
RISE is a four to six-week, intensive summer research fellowship program in the sciences intended to introduce students to undergraduate research. One of the program's goals is to prepare students for more extensive academic-year and summer research experiences they may seek later. Students present their research to each other in program meetings during the summer, and to the wider campus and community at the ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø Summer Research Symposium held in September.
Participating students receive a $2,500 fellowship for successful participation in the program, plus an additional sum to cover on-campus housing (which will be arranged for all participants).
Program Dates: A four, five, or six-week period between May 13 and June 21, 2024 (the exact dates will depend on discussions with research mentor)
Application Deadline: March 13, 2024. Application will be available at the start of spring semester.
