Internships, Careers and Graduate School
The Educational Studies Department is committed to giving students opportunities and guidance to become successful internship, graduate school, and career candidates.
Outcomes & Careers
Career choices for graduates with training in educational studies vary widely. Many students pursue work in policy, graduate research, and higher education. Other popular placements for students who pursued educational studies while at 桃瘾社区 include:
- - STA is the premiere PK-12 teacher and administrative recruitment service in the South. STA offers free teacher placement for candidates, and they are the only agency that focuses on private and independent school placements in the South. They work with schools from Maryland south to Florida, and as far west as Texas.
- - TFA is a nonprofit organization that works to enlist, develop and mobilize college graduates from top universities around the United States to serve as teachers and advocates for educational equity. The corps members commit to teaching for at least two years in a public or public charter K-12 school in one of the 52 low-income communities the organization serves.
- Teach Charlotte - TEACH Charlotte is a highly-selective program designed to recruit and train recent college graduates to become highly effective teachers in high-need public schools around Charlotte.
Licensure, Certification and Graduate School
Students who desire to teach should consult with Educational Studies faculty about the various routes available to them, including alternate route certification programs, graduate school programs, and independent school teaching opportunities.
The Educational Studies Minor prepares students to enter teaching through the following paths.
- MAT programs where you earn a teaching license and a master's degree
- Alternative entry programs such as Teach for America, Teach Charlotte, and similar programs
- Teach in private schools or programs where licensure is not required, such as language programs abroad
Students are often accepted to multiple schools and get to select where they want to attend.
